Slutwalk isn't my thing

A friend of mine was going to be in a fashion show over the weekend. I would find that it would be part of Amber Roses SLUTWALK event. I respectfully declined.

The most laughable part of the event were the posters with Amber's face and the tagline 'Feminism is Back!'

Um...it never left.

Slutwalk started a few years ago in Toronto as a reaction to the abuse and violence women were receiving when they went out at night. There have been other events over the past decades like 'Take Back the Night' which also are in support of women not wanting to have to put up with sexual violence that seemed as society would have it 'owed to them because of how they were dressed or acted.' We all know this is bullshit. No woman should be subjected to a man's desires if she doesn't want them. No woman should be touched if she doesn't want to be. No woman should be cat called or pinched because she's showing a bunch of skin.

In a perfect world we wouldn't be.

But this world is far from perfect.

Take back the nights focus was on women banding together and looking out for eachother when out at night.

Slutwalks focus gets lost and turns around to be women parading around scantily clad, daring anyone to touch them or call them out of their name. So feminism is NOW about fighting for the right to walk around almost nude and no one having a thing to say about it?

The founders of the feminist movement are choking on their coffee about now. The movement 40 some odd years ago if anything was just the opposite. For women NOT to have the job of being the 24 hour sex kitten. Not to have to be screwable in order to get anywhere in life or business. To be seen as a person, who has skills and abilities and deserves to be paid the same as a man for said skills and abilities. It's sad that this generations 'role models' use sex as a way of getting everything they want. If anything you are taking women BACKWARDS in time.

Sex as a weapon, and currency isn't going to make your life better. And watch out once you have 'aged out' of the instagram generation. Hope you save your pennies!

What's most disheartning is a woman of color is heading up the charge for this foolishness. Women of color have enough to deal with. A woman who chooses to make her living as a sex object can't teach me a damn thing about womeninity. Granted if that's what you wanna do, cool. I don't HAVE to respect you for doing it. See how that works? I leave you be, and I can have my opinion. I don't have a desire to stop your circus.

I just won't attend.

But don't you want to support other women?
Don't you want to support other women of color?

SLUT is not a word I will ever uphold.

I remember a quote from Mother Theresa saying that if you wanted her to march against war, don't call her. But if you want to march for peace, she will come to that. Because what we focus on, as per the law of attraction GROWS.

If you have a march for 'Women Making Good Healthy Choices.' I will show up for that one.

Like the misguided logic that if black people use the N word, it takes the power out of it. Nice try. But now you say it to yourself so much, no one else has to.

Same thing with the SLUTwalk. You think you are owning the word, and being proud of your 'slutty' behavior? That if you do this no one can judge you?

What fairy land do you live in?

No I am not advocating all you ladies get to a nunnery, or be ashamed of having sex. I thought Amber's 'walk of shame' video was cute. A woman shouldn't have to walk in shame after she's had a great night of sex. Specially if it was really good, hell skip home! However...

The point is be SMART about your CHOICES!

Don't agree to some pornlike activity, then afterward cry foul because people are now looking down on you for doing it. OWN THAT SHIT.

Don't hop in the sack with a dude on the first night, get sprung on the D, then get mad when he doesn't call you the next day, week or month. Then you cry rape. OWN THAT SHIT TOO. He got you girl, move on.

Take RESPONSIBILITY for your choices.

UNDERSTAND that you live on a PATRIARCHICAL planet, and as a woman, there are things you will not be able to escape; no matter how 'unfair' you find them.

Don't put all your business in the streets and on the internet, then get mad because someone calls you a name. How bout you keep your private business and parts PRIVATE? How bout you live your life in real time and not on the internet? How about you work on yourself, and stop being so thirsty for the approval of strangers?

There is a term "Lady in the streets" for a reason. Because if you can't manage that, what kind of man do you think you will attract other than a hound dog?

SLUTWALK is NOT a feminist movement. It is a misguided set of ideals that make young women believe that if they walk around naked no one has the right to judge them, and there are no consequences to their choices.

Yeah

Good luck with all that.

Feminists Are Embarrasing

This week a 22 year old 'journalist' who happens to be Muslim announced that she would be appearing in Playboy magazine with her Hijab on. A person that I knew for quite a while thought that this was great, and good for her bucking against religiosity.

But in fact she isn't, she's going to have her head covered. Which means she is still obedient to God and her religion, but somehow the modesty clause isn't that important.

When a woman is said to be appearing in Playboy, we automatically assume she will be naked. But lately there has been talk about Playboy getting rid of the fully nude women. The article published by Playboy on line, she is fully clothed. So it's unclear why this is even a story in the first place? Just to get people talking. Or thinking she would be posing nude only wearing a head scarf?

Because had that been the case, I would wonder if it was a suicide mission she was on and posing in Playboy was on her bucket list of things to do before she dies. I don't think the Muslim community would sit still for some b s like that. But it remains to be seen if it's just a fluff article or a pictorial that will appear.

The friend I had on line got upset that I was taken aback at his support of this kind of f*ckery. He unfriended me because I couldn't promise I wouldn't have another outburst if there was something else just as idiotic that he jumped on the bandwagon for.

This young woman Noor Tagouri has been said to be a storyteller and motivational speaker. But most who cross her path perceive her to be thirsty for attention. Which most 22 year olds are. Just she gets on the internet, and lets you know she's gonna be in Playboy so suddenly you pay attention to her shenanniganism.

If you are this much of a sukka, then I'm glad we're not friends.

Peace out.
